“Yes, and…” Building Community Culture

“Yes, and…”

Building Community Culture

by Michael Gornik

If you’ve ever dabbled in theater, you may remember the first law of ‘Improv’: No matter what happens, no matter what others say or do, respond with a resounding “YES, and”… and then add your own spontaneous, creative spark to propel the narrative forward. This is not only a strategy for good theater, it is a wonderful approach to life and especially to building community! The whole point of communal enterprise is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; we embrace others’ ideas, talents and interests and build upon them, allowing the creation of something much more than any of us could have created alone. The energy, comradery, and expansion of consciousness, one feels through this process is among the greatest joys of living in community.

At a time of great challenges, we have the opportunity now to “refashion life ideally”. What will it take to make Polestar Village a place of deep connection, compassion, creativity and Joy? What does it take simply to be a good neighbor, community member, or citizen of planet earth? Our charter: to build ‘Communities of Learning’, invites us all to be students of Life; humble enough to learn and grow; generous enough to share with all; expansive enough to know that everyone’s well being and prosperity is our own well being and prosperity.

If you’ve been following Polestar for a while and have yet to get involved, now is the perfect time! We have endless opportunities for contributors of all kinds and want to include your unique talents in this creative, community building process.
